20050705CHINA - Li Jiang

A delightful maze of cobbled streets, rickety old wooden buildings, gushing canals and hurly-burly of market life make up this charming though touristy town. Just couldn't bear with the huge crowds of tourists. The earthquake had destroyed a big portion of Li Jiang in the past decades, re-construction imitating the original architecture. It was successfully done and the old town atmosphere still lingering. Hiking to the “Tiger Leaping Gorge” was tiring particularly the “28 Turns”. The gorge boasts one of the deepest valleys in the world.
