Cheng Du was just a transportation hub to E Mei Shan, Le Shan and Jiu Zhai Gou. It has nothing much to see, but the famous "hotpot" is unforgettable - extremely hot & spicy. Direct flight to Lhasa is available. Foreigners require an “official” permit to get into Tibet though you will never see that paper, costs RMB 300. Meantime, no other commercial flight catered to foreigners but to accept the expensive flight ticket arrangement. It would be much more convenience when the passenger train to Lhasa inaugurates in mid-2006.
