20050719CHINA - Lhasa

The holy city of Lhasa is the heart and soul of Tibet. Modernisation is pacing fast while the mythical and mysterious religious feel is diminishing. However, it is still a city of wonder. The world heritage Potala is the religion and management center. Excellent! Only limited tickets are sold daily and should be purchased a day earlier. Thangka Bathing ceremony at Ganden Monastery was unforgettable, Lots of devotees and pilgrims gathered to witness this special occasion. The traditional Yak butter tea is slightly too strong to me (all visitors must try), but the food is generally good.
