20050909 CHINA - Beijing - Marco Polo Bridge & MemorialHall (War of Resistance Against Japan)
The 266m long grey marble bridge wouldn't have rated more than a footnote in Chinese history, which ignited a full scale war with Japan on 07-July-1937. The bridge is decorated with many lion sculptures but none of them is identical. The opposite Memorial Hall is a gory look back at Japan's occupation of China. Documents and photos recorded the tragedy and the inhuman crimes during the war, as well as the struggles against the invasion. Sadly, wars still erupted in some countries due to greediness, selfishness and stupidity.
